We want remember you that accommodation, commute and poster expenses must be covered by the participants themselves.

We would like to suggest you the following accommodations which are located not far from the conference place (Department of Earth and Geoenvironmental Sciences - University of Bari - Via Orabona n.4, 70125 Bari, Italy).

The estimated costs for a single room is around 35/40 € (for one night).
In addition, there are a lot of other accommodations in the city center that you can find on in this website http://www.booking.com or http://www.trivago.it

Every participant will have a place in the final program.
Following the format of the EGPD from previous years, the presentation is aimed at shortly introducing your topic and the poster session for a more in-depth discussion.

Presentation length will be decided at a later stage based on the number of participants, but should be around five minutes. The presentation format should be pdf or ppt/pptx.

Poster size should be A0 portrait.

The abstract should have a maximum of 500 words and no more than two images/figures. Total size should not exceed two A4 pages. Abstract submission and poster presentation are mandatory to participate.

There is an increasing interest on geothermal energy on a global scale. The EGPD is becoming a tradition in the field with a track record of 6 successful events. The topics cover a broad range of disciplines not only limited to geosciences, engineering or chemistry, but also reaching to business, law and social studies. The scale of the projects ranges from whole continents, nations and regions to specific geothermal fields, reservoirs or even micro-structures. It was initiated by the European Energy Research Alliance – Joint Programme on Geothermal in 2010 and has been held at a different location every year since then (see below).

1st EGPD 2010 in Potsdam, Germany

The 1st EGPD took place on 12. February 2010 at the GFZ in Potsdam, Germany. About 90 students from 16 countries and various scientific disciplines in the field of geothermal energy participated in the EGDP2010.

2nd EGPD in Reykjavík, Iceland

After the successful first EGPD the second one was held in Reykjavik from 1. to 2. March 2011. Around 60 PhD candidates from 13 countries participated in the conference with subsequent field trip.

3rd EGPD 2012 in Pisa, Italy

Around 70 students from various geothermal disciplines joined the 3rd EGPD Pisa from 29. to 30. March 2012 and presented their research. The conference included a field trip to the geothermal areas of Larderello, as seen in the picture.

4th EGPD in Szeged, Hungary

The 4th EGPD took place in the sunny city of Szeged in southern Hungary from 5. to 7. May 2013. The conference lasted for three days and included a field trip to geothermal power stations and a visit of a spa resort. The photo shows participants at a geothermal drill site in downtown Szeged.

5th EGPD in Darmstadt, Germany

The 5th EGPD took place in Darmstadt from 31 to 2 April 2014. The event was hosted by  the Darmstadt University of Technology, Institute of Applied Geosciences, Chair of Geothermal Science and Technologyin collaboration with the Young Geothermal Chapter (Junge Geothermie) of the German Geothermal Association.

6th EGPD in Delft, The Netherlands

The 6th EGPD took place in Delft, a very nice in Holland, from February 25th - February 27th, 2015. Around 40 students from various geothermal disciplines joined it. The conference included an interested visit to the geothermal greenhouse, as you can see n the picture.
